Laser hair removal in Switzerland - A long-lasting, effective and safe solution

Today, laser hair removal is the benchmark method for long-term hair reduction in both men and women. It effectively treats all areas of the body by targeting hair at its root, without damaging the skin.

Performed under medical supervision, this safe, personalized technique offers visible results from the very first sessions.

How does laser hair removal work?

The principle is based on selective photo-thermolysis:

  • The laser emits a concentrated light that is absorbed by the hair’s melanin,
  • This energy is transformed into heat, which destroys the hair follicle,
  • Result: the hair no longer grows back or becomes very fine and light.

Treatment is non-invasive, well-tolerated, and requires no social eviction.

For all skin and hair types?

The best results are obtained on :

  • Light skin with dark hair,
  • But darker or matte skins can also be treated with specific lasers (Nd-YAG),
  • White, red or very light hairs do not respond to treatment.

A personalized diagnosis is essential to define the right strategy for your phototype and hair density.

Lasers used according to phototype

  • Phototypes 1 to 4 (light to dark non-tanned skin) : Alexandrite 755 nm laser,
  • Phototypes 4 to 6 or tanned skin: Nd-YAG 1064 nm laser, more suitable for pigmented skin.

Treatment sequence

  • Laser hair removal only works during the anagen phase (active hair growth). As not all hairs are in the active phase at the same time, several sessions are required to treat the entire area.

    Classic protocol:

    • 6 to 8 sessions on average, depending on the area and hairiness,
    • Interval of 4 to 12 weeks between sessions, depending on regrowth,
    • Annual maintenance sessions (1 to 2) recommended for the long term.

Before the session: instructions

  • Shave the area 3 to 5 days before the session (the hair should be short but visible),
  • Avoid waxing, tweezing or epilating with an electric epilator right from the start of the protocol,
  • Do not apply self-tanning creams or photosensitizing products.

After the session: precautions

  • Avoid the sun for 2 to 4 weeks,
  • Apply a soothing cream if necessary,
  • Use SPF 50+ sun protection.

What areas can be treated?

Laser hair removal is effective on :

  • Face (lip, chin, cheeks),
  • The body: legs, armpits, bikini line, arms, back, torso, shoulders, stomach…
  • Sensitive areas: bikini line, abdominal line, fingers, toes…

Contraindications

Treatment is contraindicated in cases of :

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding,
  • Active herpes, eczema or skin lesions on the area to be treated,
  • Recent Roaccutane® treatment (less than 6 months),
  • Tanned skin recently exposed to the sun.

A free skin test is usually performed before the first session to check that the laser is well tolerated.
